I installed the update MS04-040 yesterday. now when I goto 'windows update'
site, the green bar just keeps on going from left to right, and no updates
appear, it just goes on searcing forever. I am using windows XP media centre
edition. Can anyone help please
Did the installation succeed? I tried to install it on two Windows Me
computers; one succeeded, but one failed. The failed install would no longer
find the update until I removed two applications from "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded
Program Files". In checking after the fact, it appears that the one with
"GDI" in the name was the culprit. I should have taken notes. Anyway, after
deleting that, and one named, "Update Class", my next visit to the Windows
Update site went as expected; and this time the installation succeeded.
Hmmm. Wonder what the purpose of that "Update Class" file is? I have it on
the computer which succeeded the first time; blew it away on the other. I'll
have to watch that one, see if anything is broken.
