I have just installed the security patch (July 16,2003) on
about 30 users PC's running Windows 2000. About 6 of these
users are reporting slowness in shutting down Windows
2000. It is taking between 5 and 10 minutes to shutdown
after hitting the Shutdown button. It says "saving your
settings" then eventually will shutdown properly. Has
anyone else expeirenced this problem and is so how did you
fix it.

I did on one of 3 multi-user PC's. I had only installed that update to
ward off the worm virus. I thought I had it fixed by the "net stop
spooler" method, but it randomly reared its ugly head when logging off
or shutting down as different users. And sometimes if I just logged on
as another user, I couldn't print anything. Uninstalled the security
patch and problem went away. I'm behind a hardware firewall on these
systems anyway, so I don't feel at risk.
