after i delete something, why does it go back to the center

After i delete an item in my presentation, powerpoint automatically returns
me to the center of the slide. This is very annoying working on small images!

This is a bug. I know, I know, it sucks. Unfortunately, it didn't get fixed
in SP1 for Office 2007, so all we can do is hope it makes it into SP2.
