after hard drive change via maxtor imaging

now i canot get to restore point it says error. dll app
is there way to fix xp home back so restore works ?
seams that all othere programe work.
is there limit to how many time i make changs to computer
befor iam told to reactivate.
this xp is geting to be pain i paid for it and i read
that there is limit to what i can upgrade.
may be win 98 is better/

Start/run services.msc, scroll down to the SR service and double-click it.
"Stop" the service, set the startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok and
reboot. Reverse the steps to restart it. You will lose all existing restore
points doing this, but it will at least be working again.

The changes you are hearing about are hardware, not software, changes. Even
if you exceed the number of chnages, all you need to do is reactivate. Read

The only *real* limit to a retail version is that you can only use it to
install to one machine per copy. The majority of the complaints you hear are
from people who want to install one copy on multiple machines.

Might be for you, depends on what you want the machine to do. Too often
people upgrade for the wrong reason: They want the latest and greatest, but
what they really need they already had.
