After clean install, default font is bad

I formatted the hard drive and then I did a clean install
of XP Pro on a laptop. The display fonts look all washed
out. Not crisp and clear at all. Some letters are darker
than others. Somewhere there is a setting to be changed
but I cannot find it. I previously had Win 2000 installed
and the display was perfect so I don't think that it is
the hardware.

Right-click on your desktop and go to properties.
Choose the Appearance Tab.
Choose the Effects Button.
Check the "Use the following method to smooth edges of
screen fonts" and choose Standard.
That should make it easier on the eyes.

Thanks for the reply. That did not help. The fonts are
still displaying the same. I played around in the
appearance tab but with no luck.

Seems that XP has only loaded default drivers for your graphics card.
The manufacture of the graphics-card should supply drivers for you. Or if
the graphics are build-in, the motherboard manufacturer.
