After a DVD - computer don't work

Hey,

I am having a problem that after i watch a DVD or play a game,

My PC dosent work. it runs so slow, it is unbelievable!

DVD's and Games will run perfectally, but as soon as i hit the "stop" button on the DVD, WinDVD (or WMP) takes about 3 mins to close, there is noting i can do after that, even shutting down takes about 5-15 mins!

Is this a hardware problem? and what can you suggest?

I dont want to keep having to restart every time i watch a DVD.

after i restart, it runs fine again

DVD is the main problem, Games dont do it as much.

My first thought is a virus, trojan or adware.

Other than that, it's a tricky one to find an answer for, imo.

Have you recently installed any software? If so what?

It may be the DVD drive dying or it may be a software clash somewhere.

Or, as I mentioned earlier, something nasty has crept in.

Run the usual, your adware and AntiVirus programmes, give the disk a defrag, and perhaps uninstall/reinstall your DVD player software. Also upgrade to WMP 10, if you haven't already.

Best I can suggest, clutching at straws really, good luck.
 
There is nought wrong with my DVD drive as it will play, DVD's, CD's, Games, and Burn CD's & DVD's fine

i am doing scans now.

Just finnished NAV, (no viruses) but now the computer has completely frozen. it has taken about 5 mins and all i am trying to do is close iTunes.
 
i gave up, and turned it off at the wall. the scan had finnished, there was nothing happerning, but it froze.
 
Sounds like a software compatibility issue to me...somethings conflicting...

You might need to uninstall some recent software, and try running again installing one by one and running a dvd in between to see which one is the culprit.;)

Tricky one this one....its gonna need some patience kjb so slowly slowly catchy monkey....:p
