Does any one know what is the best affordable security system? What I
have
in mind is, a simple motion triggered system that records for 10 or 15
minutes
after it is triggered., for as long as there is someone movement in
the room.
I can record to a regular VHS system or to a hard drive. This is just
for one room. ..Thanks

Not sure what you think anybody on the ATI newsgroup knows about home
security.

That said, you can set up an ATI All-in-wonder with a video camera and
set it to capture when movement is detected. Never tried it, don't know
how well it works.

Try Veo.com, they have a really cool internet ready camera that will
take pictures triggered my motion ( motion detector extra) that will
email pictures to any location and you can control the camera form
anywhere with an internet connection.

I have been using a ATI AIW 8500 with motion detection for an oustide
security setup.
Heres what I did after quite a bit of research. I purchased a JVC
"bullet camera" (about $170.00 color camera, B&W are cheaper).
I mounted this in between 2 spotlights of a motion detection outside
light fixture (it appears to be part of that fixture) Ran the wires to
the 8500 and with a little tweaking with the motion detection, can get
any traffic that comes down my street, and obviously any movement in
front of my house overnight. (the motion detection light will "flood"
the area when anything gets to close) The finished capture (of about
12 hours in vcd capture) plays back in less than 10 minutes. And I
live on a fairly active street. I then got a free webpage(250free.com)
and purchased a program called "active webcam from PY software" which
allows me to stream that cameras out put to a website. I only use this
on occasion when needed but works great.
This has been the best investment I ever made for piece of mind for my
family, as I am a fireman working 24 at a shot. Of course a 90 pound
Shepherd also helps!!!

All this due to 2 teenage daughters ex-boyfriends exploits.....GOT-EM

Buy the Asus9800XT/TVD -- in comes with the security software and recording
built in, just add the camera!
