I decided that as I've been a good boy recently, I thought I would treat myself to a new toy for 2007
After doing alot of research (and advice from friends over at XtremeSystems - thanks guys ) I have eventually settled for the following rig which should be capable of some pretty awesome OC'ing by all accounts:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Quad Core
CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120
Motherboard: Asus P5B-E Plus
RAM: CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit
Graphics: Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI
Graphics Cooler: Artic Cooling Accelero X2 Cooler (X1800/X1900 Series)
HDD1: Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache
HDD2: Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache
Floppy: Sony Floppy Drive (Silver)
DVD1: Sony DDU-1615 DVD-ROM (Silver)
DVD2: NEC AD7170A 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Silver)
Case: Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Silver)
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
I have all the other bits (OS/Monitor etc)
Grand Total: £1734.89
As I don't do alot of gaming, I have stuck with a mid-range graphics card which can also do GPU cancer crunching at Folding@Home.
All ordered last night from overclockers, apart from the CPU which is from Ebuyer, and due to arrive next Thursday
Yes, I know I have more money than sense - but its going to be alot of fun and should crunch like crazy
