adware.purityscan removal

Norton Antivirus has picked up adware.purityscan on my pc but failed to
delete it. When I have looked up the Norton help page it directs me to:
http://www.purityscan.com/uninstall.html
Has anyone used this uninstaller? Am I better doing a manual removal?
Any advice gratefully recieived.

google it (purityscan removal) -- you'll get several hundred
hits.
