Accidentally clicked on ad to improve Outlook. Adware downloaded. I've
removed it but still have pop-ups. Outlook won't open. Have removed and
reinstalled it. Have run virus and spyware programs. Suggestions?

Will Outlook open in Safe mode? Try clicking Start | Run and typing
outlook.exe /safe in the box, then clicking OK.

No, it won't open that way either. I've tried removing and reloading Outlook
Office, using the software repair option, everything I can think of. I'm
also still getting popup adware despite running the most recent virus and
anti-piracy software. I'm desperate. Thanks for any help. Louise

Try creating a new mail profile via Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles, and
make sure you set Outlook to prompt for a new profile when you open it. If
it opens with the new profile, you will need to add your e-mail accounts and
..PST file to the new one, but you shouldn't lose any data.

I created a new profile and set it as the default one. (I couldn't find a
way to tell Outlook to look for a new profile.) Unfortunately Outlook still
won't open. When I rebooted, I get the error message: "Runner Error, Invalid
Backweb appl. id: 1940576. Not sure if this is related to the problem but
the message appeared after I tried reinstalling Outlook, etc. Thanks for
your help. Louise

It sounds as if you might still have some malware on your machine. What
adware/spyware/malware programs have you run? There are quite a few
available and some catch things that others don't.

Try running the free versions of SpySweeper and Spybot Search & Destroy also.
If those don't help, I found an internet forum thread yesterday which might
also help -- you can find it at
http://geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=37&t=49076

Let me know what happens...
