i had adware name: win movie dialer and system monitor name: wintective pc
key logger I deleted it with webroots spysweeper How did I pick it up and are
they dangerous. What web sites do you think I picked it up from?

Hi BadRonald :)

For the dialer its no threat to you if you dont use a Modem connection, If
you do use a Modem it will access the internet without your consent and
usually charge you a premium rate for the service it provides. With you
saying Movie Dialer it could be (Dialer.MovieFile)

For the Keylogger this is a commercial spying program and usually the type
of application suspicious family members or work managers install to monitor
your internet use and record conversations in Msn messenger type programs,
Its a threat to your privacy and will send the details and screenshots to a
email address of who ever installed it. It is manually installed so you would
know better who has access to your pc, Its hidden from view untill your press
(Ctrl+Alt+Del+F12), To uninstall it would take abit of registry work checking
the run folders for wintective.exe then seeing where the path to the file is
( Default would be Program files folder but a common place to hide the files
would be in a folder in windows/system32 as most users are not aware of items
in there) then deleting the run key and rebooting and deleting the folder.
You wouldnt need to do this now if spy sweeper has removed it. You should
change all the passwords on your system for sites you use, MSN Messenger,
Email etc.. as the details could of been sent to the person who installed it.

Here's the site that makes this and more details about what it does.

Its impossible to know what site infected you, The keylogger could of been
manually installed by someone who has access to your system and the dialer
could be transmitted through various sites (Adult/Games/Warez etc..) Its
really hard to say these days as there is so many sites trying to infect
systems to make money for themselves,

The obvious thing to say would be read all EULA's and Licence Agreements
before installing anything but there is many sites that use exploits to try
infect users without any warning. All you can do with these types of sites is
make sure your Security Patches and Service packs are up to date from
Microsoft and use a strong Antivirus/Firewall and Antispy with Real Time
protection enabled,

Andy
