Hi,

I have some videos in wmv and avi that I want to burn to DVD to send to a
relative. He needs to just pop it in his DVD player and play it. I'm very
new to this and from reading the threads MM does not do this. So, I would
like your advice on what newbie, easy-to-use DVD creation/burning software I
should purchase.

Thanks, RickB

I cannot tell you what to purchase
but I've had good results with WinDVD
Creator and ProShow Gold. Nero,
Roxio, and ULead may also be worth
a look.

Also it's important to use good quality
DVD blanks. I've had good luck with
Verbatim:

I have the same question but it would appear that MyDVD is no longer
available according to some of the links on Amazon.

That is a full-blown capture / editing / burning program though. I don't
know for sure but was led to believe that the earlier versions of MyDVD were
just for the burning process. It seems counterproductive to spend that kind
of money just to get a burning program. : ( Maybe Microsoft will
update MM for WinXP to include the last part of the package.

Sorry, I thought you wanted info about it.

I would be quite surprised if WinXP Movie
Maker was updated, however the Vista
version does have DVD options.

Have a look at the following article:

FYI Most DVD Authoring packages also include video editing features but are
generally not as user friendly as Movie Maker is. If you want to burn your
DVD but don't plan on continuing the hobby too much then maybe downloading a
demo of Ulead Movie Factory is the way to go. Their demo works perfectly but
is only good for I believe 60 days. But you can use it to make your DVD and
if you like the program, as I am fairly certain you will, and decide to
continue making DVD's then you can purchase it. Check out the DVD Creation
section of my website for downloading as well as some How-To's on this
packages as well as some others.
