Hi,
I currently have an Intel pIII 650(I'm told not upgradeable due to the mobo)
w/ win98/SE 384MB Ram and 20GB Hd.
I'm trying to uprade the system with minimal cost to use an AIW card -
trying to convert VHS to digital, maybe also PVR.
I just bought a Seagate 80GB 7200 Hd.(may possibly upgrade op system to
Win2K in future) Now I need to get the video capture card. I don't want to
go latest & greatest AIW since the system is no longer top of the line.
After researching the options, I have 3 current and two out of production
cards from ATI:
AIW 9700 Pro, AIW 9700, AIW 9000 Pro AND AIW 7500, AIW 128 Pro
The 9700's listed in high $300's so they're out.
The 9000 Pro (64mb)is around $169 and the Discontinued AIW 7500(64mb) and
AIW 128 Pro(32 mb) are around $149.
Any suggestions as to which would be the best card with the least amount of
headaches(I know that sounds stupid from what I read about ATI on this NG)
for the system I'm trying to modify. The 9000 Pro seems like a slam dunk,
but would the 7500 or even the 125 Pro be less prone to problems?
Any advice on these cards OR NON ATI cards would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
