Advice on Software to decode newsgroup file

Hi

I rather new and hope anyone can advise me on which software to use to
"decode" some files that it posted on the some newsgroup which appears as
funny characters such as ebooks or music files etc.

I am using MS Outlook Newsreader.

I am going to assume that the funny files that you refer to have
'yenc' in the subject line.
You either get a newsreader that can decode these files or you go here
