Advice needed!

Hi, Last year we made a 20min video of our son's first year of life using
both still images & video clips. When we came to save it for some reason it
wouldn't go back onto the Video camera or onto a DVD - we could only save it
onto a CD. We really wanted to save to DVD as the Great Grandparents don't
have a computer but have a DVD player! Any ideas on why we couldn't save as a
DVD or back onto the Video camera to then input into our TV to enable us to
record to DVD??!
A friend suggested it was the size of the file?
Also - when we played it back from the CD's we made it was really low
quality & it freezes in part or the music stops... - but the file on our PC
was ok? Any suggestions?
We are just about to do a second year movie & thought we'd ask before we
start!
Thanks :)

First...the format of the source files can
cause issues...read the following article:

File type compatibility with Movie Maker
http://tinyurl.com/v8tee

Next...you can save the file in different ways.
The .mswmm project file is used for re-editing
the project at a later time. For creating a DVD
you must save the project in a movie format...
either .wmv or .avi. Then you need DVD
authoring software that is compatible with your
saved formats. Also to improve the viewing
resolution of the movie you may want to use
a custom profile when you save it.

Maybe the following article will be useful:

Windows Movie Maker:
Save your movie to a DVD
http://tinyurl.com/qwm5e
or...
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/create/savetodvd.mspx

You may be able to use the following freeware
to create a DVD from your .wmv or .avi files.

DVD Flick

Be sure to read the Guide:
http://www.dvdflick.net/guide.php

Also...you if you want a more advanced
program...have a look at Nero, ULead,
Corel, Roxio, Adobe....

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Also, you may find it useful to use
a custom profile:
