I have a friend who is a childminder. She has a heavy load of
paperwork to keep up with. I've been asked to try to help her with
computerising her record keeping system. I 've found numerous
childcare software programs on the Web but they seem to be mainly
American.
Can anyone please suggest some Access/Excel templates that can be used
as a basic for record keeping etc.?
TIA

Thanks for the reply Maurice.
This is like asking how high is up..

If I understand you clearly I'd say that the answer to that is, no
higher than necessary.

I can see how in general, individual business software requirements
will vary. It seems that for various reasons, the record keeping
requirements in this situation are quite stringently defined by the
governing bodies. It's probably quite similar in the USA, where the
off the peg software I've found so far comes from.
It appears to enable these software producers to offer a one size fits
all solution, though there are optional modules.
You may find a data model that could suit
your particular application at the followiing site.

Hope this is of some help.

An impressive and useful site. Thanks a lot for the link.

Is there an organisation for child minders in the UK, Mike? If so, does it
have a web site and/or a printed journal? If so, that's where I'd look for
information, because if I published software targeted at child minders,
that's where I'd be advertising it.

The spammers and script-kiddies have succeeded in making it impossible for
me to use a real e-mail address in public newsgroups. E-mail replies to
this post will be deleted without being read. Any e-mail claiming to be
from brenreyn at indigo dot ie that is not digitally signed by me with a
GlobalSign digital certificate is a forgery and should be deleted without
being read. Follow-up questions should in general be posted to the
newsgroup, but if you have a good reason to send me e-mail, you'll find
a useable e-mail address at the URL above.

There is an organisation and a site. I haven't investigated it fully
because when I went there yesterday the first couple of things I tried
to do, including writing a message to the forum, fell over before
completion. I'll try again later.
