Advice Needed on Audio and Presentation Synchronization

I have an Audio CD that goes with a teaching text. I wanted to make a
PowerPoint Presentation that goes along with it. I saw that I can
rehearse timing to the slides, but I am after a little more; I don't
now really how it could be done. But, is there some more closer way
to directly tie it to the audio on the CD? Again, I don't really know
how to do it other than the basic rehearsing of the time of the
slides, but if I don't start the CD at the exact correct moment of the
slides and vice versa, then they will always be off a little and not
look right.

Thanks for advice.

John,

Please, if your schedule allows, take a minute and let MS know this
(reliable audio/slide sync) is something you want to see added to
PowerPoint. I know I did.

JM,

Sonia's tutorial is very good, but in reading your posting, it is not clear
to me that you know you can insert the audio into the Powerpoint
presentation. That way, Powerpoint will start the audio for you at the
appropriate time. You can then adjust the slide transitions to be in synch
with the audio. At least that is the theory.....it is impossible to get it
exact especially if you transfer to another computer.

What you need to do is go to "insert", "movies & sounds" and then either
select the CD track or tracks you want to play or the file or files.
