Hi folks. Some advice please? We've found a surprising lack of user reviews on
the 2 machines above. Their prices are close, and both appear well-suited to
our needs, but no single point seems to tip the balance. Could someone tip it
for us??
About 80% of our work is B&W scans of loose sheets, with smaller amounts of
color items. No film, transparencies, 3D objects, etc., and while the higher
end of most fancy integration (like scan to email or fax or OCR) isn't really an
issue for us, easy PDF-ing would be a help. Resolution matters only to moderate
levels. A sturdy, reliable feeder is essential.
The 2 machines are similar in size, but the Epson weighs MUCH more (22# vs 13#).
What does that mean in a scanner -- a better-grade feeder?
Speed is important, so the Epson's claim of "up to" 27ppm B&W (vs. 11ppm for the
HP's) is alluring, but we know what can hide behind "up to."
If you have any general thoughts on either one, please let loose! Thanks in
advance for any clues.
