Advertisments not being displayed

Not that I mind it, but am a bit perplexed as why sites
that I goto with big adverts or even little small ones
like the MSN search page don't come up anymore. I
get "the page cannot be displayed" error message. I don't
believe I've messed around with privacy and security
settings.

Please help!

HOSTS file problem?
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS, reboot.
