Advertisements on webpage

I made a mistake and downloaded something from a web site.
Now advertisments on the internet won't display. All I get
is a box with the x on the upper right hand corner.
 
Explain what your downloaded.

The hosts file will do just that.

We cannot know what you have done.

The best way is to block the server from tracking you in the first place
Blocking Ads with a Hosts File and AdShield. Under the Security Tab download
the hosts.zip file.

Look for this tool if you wish to keep the for blocking add when you want.
You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".
Download: RenHosts.bat [right-click and select: Save Target As]

If you downloaded a program then disable it from the start up tab.
Execute MSCONFIG from the Start/Run menu and look in startup.
