D DVarnau Jan 18, 2004 #2 Scott, It was x10 ads that prompted me to start using a HOSTS file. See: http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/ http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm If this pops-up before you open IE and/or connect to the web, there's a program causing it. You should look at running tasks and startup programs. With 98, ME, XP, run msconfig and look at the Startup tab, or use one of these startup manager programs: StartupList 1.52.1: http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/index.html Startup Control Panel (Mike Lin): http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml Hope this helps, Don
