Hi people

Can someone perhaps help me with a problem with my home PC (Advent T). I am a bit PC illiterate so apologies if this seems a dumb question!

Machine is 14 months old, bought from PC World (yes I know, serves me right! :( ). No extended warranty - my choice.

For the last few weeks I have had ongoing crash problems.

Basically, when the machine has been in use for a while (3-5 hours) it starts to make a knocking sound like there is maybe something loose inside the machine. The fan also seems to get louder at this time !

The machine then shuts down.

I have tried system restores etc but I reckon it is more a hardware issue inside the machine so was going to contact a technician to get it checked out.

Have read some of the threads re: PC World health check's and they have put me off taking it in to them.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Iain

Hi! Iain welcome.

What sort of sound is it, is it a clicking noise?
  1. It sounds as though you CPU is overheating or.
  2. It could be the HDD dying.
  3. Or the PSU is faulty.
Post the spec of the PC please;)
