Hi, all -
I have a system which is giving the error message Entry Point not Found -
Procedure entry point SaferSetLevelInfrmation could not be located in the
dynamic link library advapi32.dll - we get this from winlogon.exe at boot
up, and again when attempting to run quite a few programs. Everything still
*seems* to work, but this is a really annoying error we're getting 30+ times
a day.
The first thing I tried to do was the fix suggested by lukesh on 2/16/05 in
this group - replace the .dll with a known good copy while in safe mode.
This didn't work. I also did a spyware & virus scan - the system turned up
clean.
The current version of this file is 5.0.2195.6876. The previous version,
..6710 was replaced during the install of kb835732 - ms04-011 security
update. I rolled back that patch, but the problem persists with the old
version. I'm also a bit stymied by the fact that this just turned up
yesterday, though no installs were made on the machine. Prime95 says our
DIMM's are OK, and we're not experienceing any other weird behaviour.
Any suggestions?
