Hi people,
Anybody could tell me what is the advantages in using a Windows 2003 Active Directory instead a Windows 2000 Active Directory, considering I´m talking about a small domain?
I know that a can rename domain, but... I don´t see as a decisive fact, in my situation.
I know some replication issues, but... again I have a small domain without a lot of replication.
Well, I´d like to know some points to clarify my mind about advantages of using W2K3 AD.

Thanks,
andre

1. It is a updated version to the 2000 version of the AD - more optimized
2. It adds support for multi-selection users and edit their properties +
drag & drop functionality
3. You can redirect default computer/user account creation
4. Schema improvements like the one where you can use lastLogonTimestamp
attribute to query lastLogged-on user
5. You can reset default system GPO in the case you mess-up something with
GPO's
6. Support for application partitions in case you need them
7. Better support for GPO's (more settings) - better control
+ you must consider all advantages of Windows Server 2003

For bigger networks
1. Domain rename and restructuring
2. better replication
3. no limit on group membership
4. forest trusts

I'm sure there are many more advantages, but in my opinion it is better to
go Window WS2k3.

There are considerable improvements to the product for stability/security/functionality. You could go with W2K and add
all of the hotfixes and SP's and still not be at the same level W2K3 gives you.

At this point in time you should actually look at it as why SHOULDN'T you deploy W2K3 AD. If you purchase Windows Server
right now, you are purchasing 2003. If I was deploying a new environment I wouldn't even think about which I would
deploy, it would be W2K3. As of this moment we are gearing up to upgrade our 400 or so Domain Controllers around the
world to W2K3 in the next 1-2 months as we really want to be on it.
