When I click on Advanced tools, then System explorer, it
comes up blank on the left side.

This is what Steve Dodson [MSFT] suggests:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware"

If you are running Norton Systemworks 4, it will shut
down the system explorers
