there is a bug in the advanced internet tools. when I try to change the
action canceled, cannot find server etc pages, I type in an address, then
click ok, click the save button, but it still shows that default page that
you cant get to. it even shows the dafault address in the program. Is this
because its a BETA?

Hi

Are you using "Change restore settings to new URL", bottom - right ?

Check entry and then click on restore ?

It´s a "bug" with MSN.com which "hijacks" some PCs. But this restore
always work for me.

Thanks, Marc--I think that's a new one on me--I've never tried changing
those addresses.

What I tried was substituting the "post not cached" for "Navigation
cancelled" and it did just what you say--everything looked fine--it said OK,
thanks, but left it all just as it had been--apparently--not sure I want to
test further!

Looks like a bug to me.

The "Restore this setting now..." hyperlink is buggy and should NOT be used
since it defaults to msn.com.

Hi

I have never had any problem with that.

To get rid of msn with this restore function or some other adress.

Alan explained on 2005-10-15 :

It defaults to the URL that was there on the initial install. For Retail
Windows, that's MSN, for a Dell OEM version, it's a Dell page--maybe Dell
MSN, not sure.

It isn't arbitrary, and it isn't a hijack in itself--it is a return to a
known default--and you can change it to your own preference. I have it set
to nytimes.com, and it works.

There is a wizard that should appear early in the use of the program--I've
never understood the timing well--and allow the new user to configure those
settings--clearly most users either ignore this or never see it--so I hope
they figure out something better for beta2....
