I am not sure if I am just describing something that is a feature of Outlook
or if there is a configuration issue I might handle to change the situation,
but I have been trying to use the Advanced Find Feature to location messages
sent ot me. We have been transfering some of these messages to public
folders so that team member can see all correspondence coming into anyone
regarding a particular client.

Occasionally I may mis-file a message and that is when I want to search for
it. But Outlook is preventing me from searching multiple public folders.
This seems counter intuitive to me. If I knew which folder the message was
in I wouldn't need the find command. Am I doing something wrong here?
This is only a problem when data is in public folders. Is there a way I can
force Outlook to root through the group of public folders at once?

That's a known issue - Find doesn't span public folders (or private/public
combined). If you need to do that you should look into a third-party solution
like LookOut (http://www.lookoutsoft.com/)
