The presentations 1st slide has amimations and a continuious play sound that
spans all the slides in the presentation.

The first slide will not auto-advance, you must mouse-click even thought the
settings are set to auto-advance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What version of PowerPoint? What are the settings for the animations? Is there
one that is waiting for a mouse click?

This might all depend on how you have set the sound to play across the
slides. Did you use the transition sounds feature?

Look here for more info on Sound Across Slides:

If you follow those steps, does the first slide still not do the
auto-advance?

I did not use the Transistion sounds approach becuase it is a MIDI sound
file that I want to play.

I inserted a MIDI sequence and the used the custom animations and setting
the slides to 999

It is PowerPoint 2002.

The Custom Animations on slide 1 are;
1. MIDI (Effect options slides = 999)
2. Picture 1
3. Picture 2
4. Picture 3
5. Shape 1

All settings are "After Previous" ..... Nothing is waiting for a mouse click
I can see....

I'm sure you must have checked the option to "Continue slide show" but it's
a good question to ask before we get further with this.

If you are using PowerPoint 97 or 2000, look at this screenshot:

Also, do let us know what version of PowerPoint you are using.

Try the following:

1. Go to Tools > Options > Edit and check the box next to "New animation
effects" at the bottom. Click OK.
2. Right click the sound icon and click on Custom Animation.
3. Click on the Multimedia Settings tab.
4. Check "Continue slide show" under "Play using animation order". Click OK.
5. When you have done this for all sound files, go to Tools > Options > Edit
and *uncheck* the box next to "New animation effects" at the bottom. Click OK.
6. Test the presentation to see if that corrects the problem.

This made the slide effect but it messed up the animations themselves .... I
not longer have the ability to chnage the speed. That property is grayed out
and I can't change it .... how do I fix that?

I just removed the animations and added them back in .... the speed control
is back (no loger grayed out) and the slide advances properly.... Using the
steps below must have "reset or refreshed" something....
