We are currently upgrading from a dial-up connection to an ADSL broadband
connection and have the choice of two ADSL modems:
a) single port modem connected to the server via USB
b) four port modem that connects to the server via an ethernet connection
(via a 2nd NIC)

Is there any advantage in either of the two modems from a security
perspective ?

Thanks

Henry,
usually ethernet ADSL modem have a more complex OS, that can perform some
basic security tasks as packet filtering or PAT (port address translation).
But it depends: what really counts it's modem vendor and existing
vulnerabilities about the modem model you are choosing.
