I have enabled the use of a trusted laptop using my ICS. All works okay
but if I enable ZoneAlarm Firewall, the connection drops.
I added 192.168.0.1 to the trusted zone and it still doesn't work.
Anyone care to help me get this working so I can enable the ZA firewall
and have ICS on the laptop.
Thanks

Hi ©®,

On the gateway computer, open ZoneAlarm's control panel by double-clicking
on the ZA icon in the system tray. Click on Firewall in the left sidebar,
then click on the Main tab, then click on the Advanced button. In the
Internet Connection Sharing section, ensure that the radio button beside
"This computer is an ICS/NAT gateway" is selected, and ensure that the IP
address for the ICS gateway is displayed in the "Local address" field.

Thanks SO much for the help. I am using Zone Alarm free edition. The
only options available on the Advanced section are:

Block Trusted Zone servers
Block Internet Zone servers
Allow uncommon protocols at high security
Allow Outgoing DNS/DHCP in Trusted Zone on High setting
Allow Outgoing DNS/DHCP in Internet Zone on High setting
Lock host file
Disable Windows Firewall

So, which ones should I check/uncheck? (At the moment, the only one
checked is "Disable Windows Firewall".

The free version of Zone Alarm doesn't support ICS.

This is not the appropriate newsgroup for ZoneAlarm support.

But I remember that it certianly used to be the case (and it might still be)
that the free version of ZoneAlarm does not support the use of ICS: the
paid-for Pro version was required.

In any case, you would need to add the entire 192.168.0.xxx sub-net to the
trusted zone.

Hi Robin
Do you mean the entire subnet by:
192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.255?
Thanks

Why are you running ICS on the laptop? I'm a bit confused about that going back through the original
post and replies...

Sorry - perhaps I use wrong terminology. I am running ICS on my desktop
with the laptop sharing the desktop internet connection.
