Hi, I have a Internal ADSL Modem, when I first bought my computer it came
with it, had some software installed for it, but wasn't able to use it
because I wasn't subscribed to any DSL connections... Now I am with SBC and
am using a SpeedStream External connected to a internal thing... you get my
point. Now I want to try to install my ADSL modem and see what it can do...
I did try it once, XP accepts it and installs the drivers for it. It will
connect to the network but it won't allow me to log on. I will use WAN but
there are some other setting I need to know... any help would be great...
Thanks

Check the vpi/vci of the internal modem that you'd like to use. See if those
figures match those your DSL provider uses. If not, you'll either have to
make them match or continue using the SpeedStream External.

The internal ADSL modem may not be compatible with the SBC broadband
connection. Give SBC tech support a call and ask them about the
modem before you attempt to use it. The modem you're currently using
connects to an internal NIC (network interface card).

I have a Linksys internal ADSL modem that I removed from my machine
when I quit using AT&T and went to cable broadband. Internal ADSL
modems are all in one and don't require a NIC. Problem is, few
providers use them. Most use an external modem connected to a NIC or
USB port.

I have never heard of a computer being delivered with an internal DSL modem
(doesn't mean that they have not started doing it though). Are you certain
that it is not a plain dial-up modem?

I think Compaq was including them for a while.
