I've seen a wealth of ads lately on a variety of websites in which a
silhouetted figure or figures are dancing. I find these items remarkably
obnoxious. Is there an IE6 setting that can prevent or stop this movement?
And if anyone knows, is there a PopupCop setting that can do the same? What
are these kinds of web items called? Thanks. --Arthur (standing completely
still)

Install an MVP compiled and maintained "HOSTS" file.

And be advised that even the most basic malware can alter a HOSTS file, even one set to
read-only.

That would be correct.
<quote>
"locking" the HOSTS file does not prevent most applications from either deleting
the file or editing the contents.
It does add a Layer of Protection, but it is not the ultimate solution.
In any case you should always have a backup copy of the file handy in case of any
unwanted changes.

I'm still getting that annoying silhouetted dancing figure in some web
sites. I've used hosts.bat, but it seems to work only selectively. Anything
I should do to further "cure" those annoying dancing figures?
hanks. --Arthur

I'm sorry, I can't work with Yahoo - please use the help menu or contact Yahoo directly.
It's a lowermybills.com ad.

OK - The URL for the site; http://www.lowermybills.com/
I can view just fine - I'm afraid I have no further suggestions.

If anyone wants to chime in and help this OP, please feel free.
