Hello friends.
The scrolldown on the adress-bar is a kind of log. How can I delete it? Is
it possible to configure the number of hits to be shown? All in the name of
privacy.....

Here are two options:

1. You can go to http://www.myie2.com/html_en/home.htm
and download the free MyIE. It has an option to clear
the typed URLs. MYIE is an array of extensions for the
IE browser core that. I might add that, because of its
MANY other features including tabbed browsing, MYIE puts
IE alone pretty much to shame.

2. You can go to Kelly' Corner and download the free
little utility Clear Recent.

Handy men are ok.
But I do not like strange parts to mess with my Windows XP Pro. I would like
a proper solution.

Go to Tools-> Options

Click 'Clear History' and set the "Days to keep pages in history" to 0. It
may display the pages you visited that day, but should display none from
previous days. This is the best 'built-in' option that I know of.

This is a neat program. I have one problem. The default view is tiles, and
I can't find any way to save a change. Any help?

Or, is it that MS deliberately makes their OS so that 3rd
party software developers can make them better and offer
completions to them?

Of course it is the latter.

The default is actually tabs, not tiles. You may somehow
be hitting the "Restore" button in the System options or
the file was corrupted upon download.

Go to Tools > MYIE Options > Tab option. Set it to your
liking, restart MYIE, and it should work as a tabbed
browser. Otherwise re-download, unzip, and replace the
files in Program Fles\MYIE2 or re-install.

I bet the next IE will look a lot like MYIE, but till
then....

Of course, the major drawback to this method (and
rejecting more sane and superior approaches in some
puritanical notion that XP Pro will be "corrupted") is
that ALL histories are kept only 0 days, rather than
being able to select WHICH histories are deleted and when.
