I have the article 278875 that says to run adprep /forestprep before
promoting a Windows 2003 server into a Windows 2000 Directory. The article
says to do a backup of the schema master, and I am wondering if I need to do
a compete backup of the server, or just the schema on that server?

Thanks
Tony

You can't just backup the schema; you'll need to do a system state backup.

In the event of a disaster, that should happily suffice though.
