When doing an adprep /forestprep on our Windows 2000
server it ends with the following error:

Entry DN:
CN=x500uniqueIdentifier,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=devel
opment,DC=4mation,DC=co,DC=uk
Add error on line 275: Unwilling To Perform
The server side error is "Schema update failed in
recalculating validation cache."
An error has occurred in the program

I have looked on google and here and I can't find the
solution to this problem.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

Thanks

Rob.

Hi Rob-

This sounds like your schema may have been modified with the Apple suggested
extensions/alterations. It is possible that there is a different
modification at hand though.

The resolution for this is not the most straightforward to outline via the
newsgroup. I would suggest calling in to Microsoft Product Support Services
since we do have some steps we can do to take care of this for you.

Please reply if we can assist further via newsgroup though.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the information. Is it possible to remove the
Apple changes? We did apply them but we nolonger need them.

Rob.

There is a technique for altering them to be compatible, but once a schema
change is made in Windows 2000 it cannot be removed. Incidentally, Windows
Server 2003 Active Directory provides a method of 'defuncting' an
undesirable schema change so it is 'out of the way'.
