The first "rig" will be comming on-line in the next few days. :thumb:

We have an AMD 2600 754 64bit system to build and get crunching.

Our thanks to Adyweb for the donation of £100 towards this PC and for making it possible.

Thank you. :)

Awesome! Thats quite a nice CPU - overclock by 10% nicely. At least the one i built last week did...

The sempron, yeah?

Yup, a Sempron ... ;)

the official name for cruncher 001 ...

With the agreement from Andy we have decided to call this machine ...

"The Michael John Webb PC"

... I'm sure non of you will object to that. :)

NEXT ONE PLEASE

Well done boys ..tried to get my T23 up and running but turned it off..feels like its overheating and frying eggs inside >>hot>>hot>>hot.. any ideas on how to coooooooooooooooooool it slightly ??

OOops sorry guys ..thread started about cpu temps...my apologies ..

I just built a Sempron 3000+ system and boy do these chips run cool...

Stock cooler
Overclocked 10% or so
No case fan yet
100% load crunching as a system stability test before it's shipped

and it still hasn't gone over 34 degrees! I dont understand! Why do they run so cool?!

Probably cos AMD have improved design and most of all made the CPU heat dispersion area a lot bigger.

Couple that with a more efficient heatsink mounting and there you have it. I think.

Mucks - did you consider overclocking Michael John Webb at all?

Torture testing a Sempron 3000+ at the moment, it's sitting at 35 degrees under full Prime95 torture test 100% load. Been going aaages and still no errors yet...

1998MHz - and i haven't tried going any higher yet...!
