i can't get my adobe reader to work on XP. After
installing 5.0.5, I get a msg saying that the document
cannot be opened. Unable to create temporary file. does
anyone know why this happens?

I don't know for sure, but here's a thought for you: The current version of Acrobat Reader is 6.0. Possibly the document you're trying to open was written with 6.0 and is not compatible with your older version.
