everytime I attempt to load new version of adobe I get
this error.

Adobedownloadma.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by windows. You will need to restart the program.


What should I do?

Uninstall Adobe Download Manager. Then try to download Acrobat Reader
without using their Download Manager. If you can't do that, go here:

You're not required to use any crappy download programs to download from
download.com
