Hey,

Windows XP SP2 (all current updates as of today)
Adobe Reader 7.08
IE6 SP1

I seem to be experiencing a few problems with the embedded pdf reader within
IE6. When clicking on .pdf links the browser will show a blank frame where
the pdf should be displayed. When i press F5 (refresh) on the same page the
embedded pdf reader is loaded, and everything works as it should, on the
second attempt.

I suppose what im asking is, does anyone know of a reason why the pdf did
not load correctly in the first instance? As from an end-user perspective
i'd imagion this to be very frustrating.

Any help is welcome help.

There seems to be several "known problems" with the integration between
IE6 and Adobe reader. I had to remove all this integration in order to have
my WinXP system shut down without various messages announcing system
errors.

Sorry I do not remember most of the the details any more, however one thing
I do remember is that I had to make .pdf link to Adobe reader instead of to
Internet explorer.

I suggest you make a search on Google with your symptoms, you should
receive a lot of "hits".

Thanks for your Sven, i to am experiencing those 'rouge' shutdown errors,
however this is the least of my worries at the moment.

The .PDF file extension is linked to adobe however the browser integration
facility ensures that these PDF files are presented in IE6 (my desired
outcome). The problem being that the first attempt to load a pdf document
results in a blank frame, and upon refreshing the page it is displayed
perfectly.

Is there some kind of software block/defect that is preventing this loading
properly the first time?

I feel the reson behind this is some security conflict between the IE7 and
Earlier versions of Adobe Acriobat. I had the same issue, and still working
on the issue. This can be proved by adding the website location in the
trusted sites, so that any pdf from that page will be allowed. With Adobe
Acrobat 7 it works well.
