So I expected Adobe Reader 6.0 to be bigger, and m-u-c-h slower to load,
with more features, ... but what I didn't expect is the small "ad" window
that displays a few words in a clickable window when the reader is open.
Yes, it is unobtrusive, and the ads are for Adobe products, but an ad is
still an ad. Maybe this is acceptable based on the extensive use I make of
Adobe Reader. Its just that I hate to see Adobe open this door.

Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Messages\ENU and delete
the file RdrMsgENU.pdf and you will see no more ads.

Or you can turn it off in settings.

Edit > Preferences > Startup >
uncheck "Show Messages and automatically update"

Hey, got any suggestions for Quicktime?? ;)

Run your clock forward 5 years or so and then start Quicktime. Then close
Quicktime, run your clock back to the proper date. No more nags.
