when i have the adobe pdf writer selected as my default
printer, i cannot preview most reports in access xp. this
is very wierd because it doesn't do this on every report.
is there something i have done when building the report
that could cause this? is this documented? has anyone
else experienced this?
it's not a major problem, i'm just trying to better my
report building skills.
any help is appreciated.

Shaun:

This is a known "issue" with PDFWriter and Access Xp and 2003, especially
when run on a Win 9.x platform. To resolve, set your default to something
else, then, from the File -> Page Set Up -> Page tab select to use a
specific printer and set the report to use PDFWriter. Save the report.
Then go back and set the report to use the default printer and save it.
From there, you should be able to set your system default to PDFWriter if
you desire and the report should be able to open successfully.

Steve -
Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to figure out why
it only does it on certain reports. Is this a
documented "known" issue?

thanks,
shaun

Yes, it is documented; its in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (I don't have the
Q number handy.) It could not happen on some reports because at one time
or another they were saved with the PDFWriter as their target printer.
