Has anyone besides me had this experience? I cannot
access the Online help in Adobe Elements 2. I am using
AOL which has Internet Explorer as its browser. What can
I do to use the online help?

Solutions

Do one of the following:

Solution 1
If America Online is the default Web browser, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.1
or later, or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or later as the default instead. For information
about changing the default browser, see the online Help in America Online.

Solution 2
If you use Windows XP, install Windows XP Service Pack 1. You can download the
Service Pack from Microsoft's Web site at www.microsoft.com.

Solution 3
If you use Windows 2000, log into Windows as a Power User or Administrator. For
information about setting up user accounts, see the Windows 2000 online Help.

Solution 4
If you want to view the online Help, locate the Help.htm file (or Help.html) in the
Help folder in the Photoshop Elements 2 folder, and then open the Help file in a
browser. Bookmark the page for easy access later.

Solution 5
Exit from all applications, delete the Web folder in the Adobe folder, and then
install the latest version of the Adobe Product Update from Adobe's Web site at
www.adobe.com/products/update:
1. Exit from all applications.
2. Delete the Web folder and its contents:
-- In Windows, delete the [startup drive]:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Web
folder.
-- In Mac OS X, delete the Web folder in the Library: Application Support: Adobe: Web
folder.
-- In Mac OS 9.x or earlier, delete the Web folder in the System Folder: Application
Support: Adobe: Web folder.
3. Download the Adobe Product Update from Adobe's Web site at
www.adobe.com/products/update, and then follow the instructions on the download page
to install it.

Additional Information

When you install Photoshop Elements, files for online Help and Adobe Online are added
to the hard disk. The online Help includes documentation in an HTML-based help
system. When you try to view online Help or use Adobe Online, an error can occur for
one or more of the following reasons:
-- The files for online Help or Adobe Online are damaged. Reinstalling the online
components ensures the integrity of the files.
-- You performed a custom installation of Photoshop Elements, and didn't install
online Help or Adobe Online.
-- America Online is the default browser. To view online Help or a tutorial from
within Photoshop Elements, you need to set Navigator 4.0 or later, or Internet
Explorer 5.0.1 or later, as the default browser.
-- You are logged into Windows 2000 as a Restricted User, which doesn't have access
to the Windows registry. Some Adobe Online features require access to the registry.
-- An incorrect drive or multiple drives are designated in the AdobeHome key in the
registry.
