I am currently attempting to migrate user accounts, with passwords, from a
Windows NT 4 domain to a Windows 2000 native mode domain. I have installed
ADMT v2 on the Windows 2000 server and PWDMIG.EXE from ADMT v2 on the
Windows NT 4 DC, but when I attempt to use the User Migration wizard to test
the process, I get the following error when I select Migrate Passwords on
the Password Options screen:
"Unable to establish a session with the password export server. Password
migration has not been enabled on the source server. Would you like to
select a different Password DC?"
I had a look at the Programs folder on the Start Menu, and at the list of
services in Control Panel (on the Windows NT 4 server), but the PWDMIG
install program doesn't seem to have added anything there. What else must I
do enable password migration on the Windows NT 4 server?
