Hi,

Re: Windows XP Professional.

When I boot up my computer I can choose to from three accounts (one
administrator and two users). When I click on the administrators account
the correct background will appear but no task bar or icons. Occasionally
the egg cup will appear but even after two hours of waiting I am still stuck
with the background and nothing else.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Sonars UK

Could you expand a little please?

Sure..
Can you boot into Safe Mode and logon as administrator?

To boot up into safe mode:
1) Reboot or Restart your computer
2) Hold down the F8 key on your keyboard right after you reboot or restart.
3) After a few seconds, you will get a menu. Release the F8 key once this
menu is displayed
4) To navigate to the Safe Mode selection in this menu, use the arrow keys
on your keyboard (These keys are located on your keyboard under the END key,
and to the right of the Shift key)
5) Hit the Enter Key on the Keyboard to once you move up to safe mode with
the arrow keys, and you will enter safe mode.

Be patent, sometimes safe mode does take some time to load. In the menu
described above, there is also a selection that says "Safe Mode with
Networking". If need to use the internet to download antivirus, or adware
updates, and can't do that when Windows is in normal mode, you can use the
"Safe Mode with Networking" to allow you to connect to the internet. If you
enter into the regular safe mode, you will not be able to connect to the
internet.

It is advisable to only enter into "Safe Mode with Networking" only if you
need to. In either of these safe modes, you will not be protected by any of
your software firewall or antivirus programs, since windows only loads what
it needs to run. It will not load these programs automatically.
