If there is a password, you or someone else with access to your computer set
the password.
There is no default password.
Try leaving it blank.

Where does "ROOT#123"?
That is not set automatically or by default during installation of Vista.

ROOT#123 was the default password a few builds ago and occasionally some
gremlin causes that password to be set.

What build?
I have most builds over the last few years and never saw that or anything
else for that matter as a default password.

More likely is was something about how the DVD was setup locally after Vista
was downloaded from Microsoft.

Hello Jupiter,
Tom is correct, one of builds was released with the default password set as
ROOT#123.
That should no longer be the case, the default password should be blank.
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Darrell;
Thank you.
That seemed so strange to me.
I may have that build and if so may have been unable to install it at the
time and thus miss this error.

As usual when it seems nearly impossible, it often occurs.
