As far as I know there is no real way to disable the C$
share. Windows uses that share for some background
tasks. If you are worried about people accessing your
system using the share then I would suggest some kind of
firewall software instead. Disabling that share will
criple the system to the point it is unusable.
I was able to disable the share by turning off several
services in windows, but it caused several problems with
the system including not being able to access network
shares, taking 10 - 15 minutes to start, running very
slow. Re-enabling the services restored functionality,
but the share also returned.
If you decide to try to disable it by turning services off
then make sure you backup the system first because you may
not be able to boot after turning off some services.
This is my experiance when playing with the C$ share.
Someone else may know a way to disable it successfully.
