Hi
I am currently using xp pro, with myself as administrator and 2 user accounts for my family. how do i block the user accounts from accessing the control panel in the start menu, and deny access to the windows/ program files options on my Hard drive?

If you start blocking access to the Program Files and Windows folders, they
will have trouble using the computer. They are already being prevented from
making any changes to those files, which is probably enough.

You can block the Control Panel by putting this registry setting under their
profile: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/543/

But as "limited users" they would already be prevented from making any
changes that affect the system so personally I don't bother with it. Who
cares if they can open up Control Panels. The buttons to make important
changes are all greyed out for them, as long as they are not Administrators.

I accidentally deleted my user account and left
only 'administrator' as the sole user. Is there any way I
can get back all the lost documents? I tried "system
restore" but it didn't help. I have lost months of hard
work editing videos, etc...Please !!

If you deleted the user's files and folders, when you deleted the account, they're probably gone. If not, See Help and Support and search for "take ownership"

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

so that you can access the user's old folders. Otherwise, you'll need to try a 3rd party utility to recover them. Of course, the less you use the computer in the meantime, the more likely you are to recover the files intact.
