I've had problems for a while trying to get my new computer (with Vista home premium) to accept my old but adequate HP1315 all-in-one printer.Things would be OK for a while then the computer would fail to recognise the printer, telling me it was off line. All Vista updates have been downloaded.
In the end I uninstalled everything to do with HP including battling with the 'internal error2738' - your threads on this were very helpful, Thanks.
Now we're clear, except
when I try to reinstall the printer the setup tells me I do not have administrator rights.
I have tried disabling Norton but still no luck.
Has something blocked my administrator rights - I am still listed as administrator on 'user accounts' ? or
is it a problem with Vista recognising a printer that was essentially designed for XP (or earlier versions)? or
do I buy a new printer designed for Vista
