Administrator password

After booting windows XP from cd in order to repair it, i
am promted for the adminstrator password. Have been told
that it should be <blank> however this doesnt seem to work.
Any1 have any ideas as to what it is or a way i can reset
it to the default?

What kind of a repair are you trying to run? The first prompt for a repair
takes you to the recovery console and requires a user name/password. It is
a command-line interface for specific tasks.

The second prompt for repair appears after the EULA is shown on the screen
performs a repair installation. It does not require a user name/password.

Windows came preinstalled and your recovery media has been customized by

Er...........dont think its either. just start to computer
with cd in and it gives me the option to either install or
repair. When i say repair it says: 'enter adminstrator
password' which i dont have.

Different installation media offers different repair options. Previous
directions were for a retail WinXP CD or a generic OEM CD. If your Windows
came preinstalled and your recovery media has been customized by the
manufacturer, check your system manual for restore/repair options and for
directions.
