I am presently trying to to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents
Windows XP from starting. My desktop computer will not start at all. Anyway,
I am following the instructions provided by Microsoft given here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;307545&spid=1173&sid=156
I've made my way into the Windows XP Home Edition Setup area and I have
pressed 'R' to repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console. But,
I am now stuck at the part that requires an administrator password. I was
under the impression that I was, in fact the administrator of the computer,
so I used the password that I am positive I would have used if I had set it
up. I was told that the password was invalid and to try again. So then I
thought maybe I never set up an administrators password. So, as instructed I
just pressed enter and I was told that the password was invalid. So, yeah. I
have no where else to go with it, because I clearly don't have the password.
Is there anyway to recover or reset the administrator's passowrd?
